COMMUNITY & SOCIAL VOLUNTEERING

If you have always dreamed of visiting Africa, supporting and work in urban cultures, Gap Year International offers the most exciting and affordable placements for volunteers who would like to  work with local team to support and empower local communities.  You’re invited to stay for a minimum of four weeks and can expect to work four to six hours per day Monday through Saturday each week.  Becoming a community volunteer on your gap year is a fantastic way to make a real difference to a developing local community and to help improve the lives of people in need. There is a huge range of community projects abroad to choose from, meaning you can easily find something to match your skills and interests.

  • Green Township Initiatives
  • Design and produce easy to use hanging vegetable gardens in local communities to help improve diet and wellbeing
  • Township Tours – help run and operate township tours in partnership with community members
  • Marketing and sale of handmade Township products to tourist sector to empower local communities
  • Personal Initiative – we encourage dynamic thinking and initiative for new project ideas with practical application in surrounding communities
